About 5-10% of all new joiners will have some medical issue(s) relevant to their fitness for work. A Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) helps you identify health problems early on so that you can put in place adjustments to support them in the workplace and to protect them from any risks that their health problems might pose in the context of their new employment.

You also protect yourself. Under the provisions of equality legislation, in relation to disability, employers are required, if they know or might reasonably know of an employee's disability, to make appropriate adjustments to their role and their working environment. A HAQ is the most cost effective way for you to identify cases where adjustments might be needed and thereby to mitigate against the risk of an allegation of failure to make reasonable adjustment – the most common type of complaint lodged under discrimmination legislation.

We tailor our HAQs to the issues most relevant to an organisation's employees, their roles and working environment. This means each client has a HAQ appropriate to their risks, thereby reducing the administration costs incurred by your HR department and our Clinical Services Team.

Typically, a HAQ is issued to the individual after the offer of employment. The applicant will complete the HAQ and send it directly to us. We can offer an organisation both a paper based questionnaire or an electronic, web based, option. Upon receipt of the questionnaire, we would review it and within 48 hours either issue a 'certificate of fitness' or recommend any action as a result of their assessment.
