Strong, clear clinical leadership

Consultant-Led Advice

A Consultant Occupational Health Physician would act as the organisation’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO). The CMO would be available to advise and support HR and Managers with;

  • Reviewing existing policies and making any appropriate recommendations on policy formulation for occupational health issues, such as sick pay, sickness absence, drug abuse, smoking and alcohol etc.
  • Helping you with any new protocols or legislation that come into place within the duration of the contract. We have recently provided briefings for managers regarding the Equality Act 2010.
  • Reporting on the outcome data for the year and report on results relative to historical data. The CMO will also comment on sickness absence trends, organisational issues and clinical outcome data.
  • Issuing series of regular bulletins and fact sheets focusing on case studies, implication of changes in law and topical advice. This information can also be accessed through our client portal.
  • Advising on any risk management programmes such as health surveillance programmes, drug testing and on site risk assessments.
  • Advising on wellness programmes, well person screening, executive medicals, stress audits and ergonomic audits.
  • Providing training for managers, heads of departments, human resource staff etc. on identifying and controlling absence.
  • Minimising the risk of employee litigation and advise on the compliance of current legislation such as:
    • Health & Safety at Work Act
    • Health & Safety Regulations
    • Equality Act
    • Data Protection Act
    • Access to Medical Reports Act
    • RIDDOR and COSHH Regulations
    • Working Time Directive
  • Providing access to online medical libraries and our own comprehensive reference library - particularly in relation to regulatory and legislative changes.

Telephone support from the Consultant Occupational Health Physician would be available between 9.00am and 5.30pm during weekdays.
